Things You Should Be Doing This 2015

Since 2015 is here, I thought I would do a list on the things I would like to do this year. I decided to post it on my blog because I thought it might be helpful to someone else out there.
1. Stop saying “New year, New me.”
Just because it’s a new year that doesn’t mean it’s going be a new you. That word could mean you could become a totally awesome person, a terrible one or an unrecognizable one. Instead, say that it’s a new year and a BETTER you. A new year has come and that means all the things that happened in 2014 is behind you now. Those mistakes and bad experiences you had last year should be a reminder and motivation for you to do BETTER and to be BETTER this year. As they say, people make mistakes but if you do the same mistake twice then you already chose that path as you should have learned from the past and moved forward. Do not just simply restart your whole life just for the sake that it’s a new year. When people change, it doesn’t automatically mean they’re new. It could simply just mean they’ve learned and become better people.

2. Express yourself better towards others
Life is short and the fact that it’s already 2015 proves that. Therefore, it’s important to tell people especially those close to your heart, how you actually feel about them and how much they really mean to you. In this generation filled with much technology, we express ourselves and our emotions through things called emojis and emoticons. We talk through text messages, chat boxes, tweets and all kinds of social media platforms. Sometimes, it’s difficult to identify what a person is actually feeling or thinking especially because we send smiley faces and all other emoticons that we don’t actually feel the emotion of. As for the receiver, remember that an “I love you” is more memorable when the person who’s giving the message is actually with them in person. The harder for you it is to say, the more real and heartfelt it actually is. To the person hearing those words, it’s more meaningful to them than you may perceive them to be. So, go and tell the people you love how you feel and make sure you do it in front of their faces this time because I’m sure it’ll make them feel very appreciated and loved.

3. Capture the moment
Yes, capture the moment and by that I don’t mean take a whole bunch of selfies in the park or wherever you may go. We all have our own dreams and while some of us on this earth have achieved them in 2014, some of us still keep waiting for the right moment to even begin working for them. The longer we wait for the perfect moment, the farther our dreams become. We have to stop waiting for the right moment to come because it never will. We have to take this moment and make it perfect. No dream is impossible, it just depends on how hard you’ll work to achieve for it. So, stop saying that you’ll do it later or tomorrow or that time will come because time does not stop for anyone and the clock is ticking.

4. Don’t let anyone pull you down
I know there are people on this earth who seem like they were born to just simply ruin your life but remember that they can’t really affect you unless you let them. Yes, words hurt but you just have to stand tall. Just think of it this way, if there weren’t people on this earth who made you feel that way then you wouldn’t have learned to appreciate the people who love and care for you so much. When you’re walking on the street, you may notice that when the sun hits the ground it sparkles. Even when so many vehicles pass on it and many people step across it, it still keeps it sparkle. Know that people may walk on you but they will pass on eventually. Just don’t let them get to you and you will be fine. You are amazing and you shouldn’t be convinced otherwise.

5. Be thankful
Remember that a lot of people did not make it to 2015 and yet you are here reading this article. We are alive and that itself is something to be greatly thankful for. So stop saying you wish you were dead just because you didn’t get what you want or your crush doesn’t like you back. With every breath we take, someone else is taking their last. A lot of people would have loved to live as we still are right now. Also be thankful for the food and clean water you have, the home you live in, the clothes you are wearing, the fact that you have a gadget and internet that you’re able to read this. Just be thankful and content because not everyone on this earth has what you have.
